Description
Necessary house and garden wall attached, located approximately 30 metres west of No. 32. This structure dates from the early 18th century and is built of brick with ashlar coping and dressings, topped with a stone-flagged roof. The wall, which is about 3 metres high, extends west from the rear wing of No. 32 and features a ramped section leading up to a boarded door with a Tudor-arched head, situated around 30 metres from the house. Beyond this door, the wall continues for another 30 metres to a summerhouse. There is a wide keyed segmental brick arch, approximately 1.5 metres high, located to the east of the summerhouse, the function of which is unknown, as well as a second Tudor-arched doorway with a stone surround, about 4 metres east of the summerhouse. This second door previously provided access to a yard behind the laundry and servants' wing of No. 32. The necessary house behind the wall has a pent roof.
Inside the necessary house, there is fielded panelling at the front of the earth closet and around the seat, which features three small and two large round holes. There is also a small lamp recess in the right wall and a small square window on the left. The building was derelict at the time of the survey.
