SUTTON-UNDER-WHITESTONECLIFFE MAIN STREET SE 4882 - 4982 (NORTH SIDE) 10/37 Section of garden wall 20.6.66 with garden house approx. 65 metres to north east of SUTTON HALL. (Formerly listed as garden house in NE corner of walled garden at Sutton Hall) GV II Garden wall with garden house. Early C18, wall restored C20. Wall of orangey-red brick in Flemish bond with nibblestone to rear; garden house of ashlar with nibblestone to rear and Welsh slate roof. L-shaped garden wall, east wall approx. 55 metres in length and north wall approx. 40 metres, with garden house at north end of east wall. Wall: approx. 3 metres tall, the top renewed and with flat stone coping; it is ramped down at north-west angle where it terminates in ashlar quoins; half-way along east wall is a later gateway with rubble piers having stepped ashlar capstones. The garden house has a facade in line with the wall and projects to rear under a pent roof; the front is formed of a Venetian opening with Tuscan columns and cavelto-moulded architrave with keystone to arch; moulded coping; at the rear it has quoins and a blocked central opening with plain stone surround.
