Description
This building is an outbuilding attached to the west of East Langton farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. It consists of a range of stables with a hayloft above, as well as cart sheds. The structure is made of dressed sandstone and is limewashed at the front. The stable features a low-pitched Welsh slate roof, while the cart shed has a moderately-pitched old pantiled roof.
The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the cart shed attached at right angles to the left return of the stable. The stable is two stories high and has five bays. On the ground floor, there are two Dutch doors, four 4-pane casement windows, a segmental carriage arch, and an external stone staircase on the right. The first floor includes several blocked breathers, a boarded door, and two hit-and-miss windows. The roof is hipped to the right and has plain close eaves.
The single-storey cart shed has three bays, featuring a Dutch door on the left and two segmental arches with dressed stone voussoirs. There is also a blocked arch on the left that has an inserted 4-pane casement. The roof of the cart shed is hipped to the left and has plain close eaves. This outbuilding is included for its group value with the farmhouse.
