Description
The building is a cartshed and barn/granary located 10 metres west of the Old Farmhouse at Hollin Hall West, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of limewashed dressed sandstone. The cartshed features a roof made of large Welsh slates, while the barn has a pantiled roof, forming an L-plan structure.
The cartshed is two stories high with four bays and includes a loft above. There is a single-storey, two-bay section attached to the left. The ground floor has a 20th-century boarded door in the right bay and five segmental-arched openings to the left. The first floor of the right section has three fixed lights with four panes each and raised sills, along with a boarded opening in the right bay. An external stone stair is located on the right return.
Attached to the right rear of the cartshed is a two-storey, five-bay barn. It features a central Dutch door, a double row of two breathers to the right, and a 20th-century vehicle entrance at the rear. The roof is supported by five king-post trusses.
This building is included for its group value. There is a single-storey range of outbuildings attached to the rear of the barn, but these are not of special interest.
