Description
The White House is a house formed from the conversion of two late 18th century to early 19th century houses into a single dwelling. It features roughcast and painted masonry, with the left section having a Welsh slate roof and the right section covered with sandstone flags. The building is two storeys high, with a one-bay left section and a slightly recessed two-bay right section.
On the ground floor, there is a central open-pedimented Doric doorcase that contains a six-panel door and a radial fanlight, flanked by early 20th century canted bay windows. The first floor windows are set in raised surrounds, featuring a 16-pane sash window, which is bowed on plan, to the left, and two two-light windows with six-pane sashes and Y-tracery heads to the right. The roofs are moderately pitched, with a coped left gable that has a shaped kneeler, two gable stacks, and one central ridge stack. At the rear, there is a staircase window with a radial head under a brick arch.
An attached wing at the rear of the left return is not of special interest.
