Description
Glynhir Stable Range is an L-shaped building dating from the 19th century, constructed of local thin sandstone rubble with larger stones used at the corners. The roof is made of local sandstone slabs and features red ridge tiles from the 19th century. It has a hipped roof, except for the return gable which is half-hipped.
The south elevation, which faces the farmyard, includes a small window centrally located above a central door, flanked by a small window on each side. All these openings have cambered arches and stone window sills. The other elevations are irregular, featuring original cambered arch openings and stone sills, but the window joinery has been modernized. The doors to the cartshed on the left side of the west elevation are missing, and the opening to the smithy combines a door and window, with part of the window frame still intact. There are external loft-access stairs centrally located on the east side, positioned at right angles to the wall.
Inside, the stable accessed from the south contains two loose boxes on the left and three stalls on the right, with drainage paving bricks and timber stall divisions. The cart-shed is entered from the left side of the west elevation, while the center features a smithy complete with its hearth and bellows, along with a workbench by the window. The chimney from the hearth has been lost.
