Description
Glynhir Barn is a notable double threshing barn constructed from local sandstone rubble, featuring carefully selected thin stones for the segmental arches of its four large doorways. The lower meter of the walls is slightly battered, and the roof is made of local sandstone, topped with 19th-century red ridge tiles that include a small finial at the south end. On the north side, there is a catslide extension built with similar materials. Each gable end has two tall slit ventilators, while each long wall contains four. High-level hatch openings at both ends of the long walls are adorned with cambered arches.
The barn consists of nine bays supported by collar and tie beam trusses. There is an inserted floor at the north end, which includes shafting from former machinery, along with marks indicating lost inserted floors in the center and at the south end. The flooring features stone paving in the heads and center, with stone pitching in the threshing bays.
