Description

Glynhir Mansion is a Grade II listed building with a north-facing entrance front that features roughcast walls and a slate roof. The house is arranged in three units, with the center unit slightly recessed. It has two storeys and an attic, showcasing three round-headed sash windows in the center unit—one positioned above the porch and two below. The porch is supported by Tuscan columns and has pine double doors with a thin overlight. The left bay contains a modern unequal-sash window with small panes, while the right bay has altered windows and a door, including two 12-pane hornless sash windows. The original windows have concealed frames and handmade glass, and there are three dormer windows above the eaves. To the right, there is a lower-roofed kitchen range with irregular window placements.

The garden elevation on the south side features four windows, including an additional hipped unit on the left. This elevation also has two storeys and an attic, with rendered walls and chimneys. The steeply pitched roof is covered in gritstone tiles and has deeply projecting eaves with modillions, along with three gabled dormer windows from the 20th century. A fine entrance, likely from the Edwardian period, is located on the left and includes wide paired doors with sidelights and an elliptical fan beneath a segmental hood. Above this entrance are paired four-pane sash windows. To the right are three bays of the original house, featuring a central canted full-height bay window, with a four-pane window on the left and a modern window below. The right unit has similar four-pane windows above and below, while the central bay window is two storeys high with canted sides and four-pane sash windows.

The east gable elevation is finished with slate hanging. Inside, there is a good Regency dogleg staircase in the entrance hall, featuring a bracketed cut string and a swept hardwood handrail with two-inch square balusters for each tread, coiled over a curtail step. The ceiling cornice includes shallow modillions, and there are decorative ceilings in the suite of rooms facing the garden. Additionally, there is a small vaulted cellar.
