Description

The memorial to the Marquis de la Pasture, located at the Church of St. Madoc, is a tall cross designed in a Celto-Byzantine style. It is made of dressed granite and limestone. The memorial is set on a square step and features a base composed of two diminishing square blocks, which support a double Ionic column of Byzantine type. The lower part of the shaft is made of granite, while the upper section is limestone. At the top of the column, there is a Celtic-style cross adorned with zig-zag decoration. The base blocks and a tablet feature relief inscriptions, the earliest of which commemorates 'Gerard Gustavus du Carel, 4th Marquis de la Pasture 1838-1916'.
