Description

Nos. 17-21 (odd) Monkswell Road Roughly coursed red sandstone rubble, with some ashlar window dressings and Welsh slate roofs. Single fronted double depth terrace with a double front to No. 21. Three storeys, two windows to each house. Ground floor and first floor windows are in two storey canted bays with slate roofs. The windows, which are 2 over 2 pane sashes flanked by 1 over 1, have ashlar frames with Caernarvon heads. Doorway with gabled hood on brackets. Window above door is a 2 over 2 pane sash with a stone Caernarvon head and brick jambs. The upper floor windows are paired 2 over 2 pane sashes with stone heads and central mullion but brick jambs. These are set in a wall-head gabled half dormer with scalloped bargeboards. Low pitch roof with four ridge stacks to terrace. Left return gable to No. 17 has three 2 over 2 pane sashes; right return gable to No. 21 has a single window on the ground and second floor only. Rear elevation not seen.
