Description
5 Monkswell Road is part of a terrace of houses built from roughly coursed red sandstone rubble, topped with Welsh slate roofs. The terrace features full height stucco quoins at both ends and at the kink between Nos. 5 and 7. There are stucco cill bands on the first and second floors, along with stucco window architraves that include keystones and imposts. This is a single fronted, double depth terrace that stands three storeys high, with one window for each house. The ground floor windows consist of pairs of single pane double hung sashes set in arched openings. Each house has matching doorways with plain fanlights and four-panel doors. The upper windows are all tripartite plate glass sashes, though those on the top floor are shorter. The terrace features bracketted eaves and a low pitch roof with four ridge stacks. Spiked and looped iron railings are mounted on dwarf red brick walls, which have stone corner and gateposts. The terrace has blind gable walls, and some alterations have been made to the rear elevation. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
