Description
27 Monkswell Road is part of a terrace of five houses, numbered 23 to 31 (odd), built in 1870. The houses feature unpainted render that is lined out to resemble ashlar, and they have a Welsh slate roof. Each house is three storeys high with two windows on the front. There are panelled pilasters between each house, and bands at the first-floor level and at the second-floor cill level. The doorways have part-glazed doors, fanlights, and wooden porches with barge boards and pointed finials. To the right of the porch, there is a canted bay window on the ground floor, which has 3 over 3 pane sashes flanked by 1 over 1 pane sashes. The other windows are plain 2 over 2 sashes, with smaller windows on the second floor. The terrace has a date stone in the centre on the second floor that reads 'North Parade Terrace 1870'. The roof is plain with six ridge stacks across the terrace, and the gable ends are blind. The rear elevation has not been seen, and the interiors have not been inspected.
