Description

Coed-y-paen Farmhouse is a two-storey house primarily rendered with pebbledash, although the 19th-century gable end reveals its construction from local rubblestone, topped with Welsh slate roofs. The entrance front features a 19th-century wing on the left, which includes a casement window on each floor and a late 20th-century glazed door. The roof has a brick gable stack. The main part of the house has a late 20th-century door and three windows below; the first window is an early 20th-century cross-framed casement, while the second is likely a 19th-century casement with eight panes on each side. Above, there are two six-pane casements, with the left one positioned over a blank wall. The roof has been recovered in the late 20th century and features ridge tiles along with two rebuilt red brick ridge stacks, one located between the two sections of the house and the other on the right gable. The rear elevation includes three windows in the main block, all of which are 20th-century metal casements, and there is a doorway leading into a lower room on the left. Additionally, there is a late 20th-century lean-to extension to the 19th-century wing, with a casement window above it. Although not available for inspection during the resurvey, it is reported that the ornate doorheads mentioned in the listing description are still in place, along with a post and panel screen.
