Description
Craigwith House is a two-storey building with a rendered exterior over local rubblestone and a Welsh slate roof. The house consists of two sections. The left section is a small two-room house in a 'Regional' style, which has been altered and features a gabled rear stair-wing added in the early 17th century. The right section includes a cross-passage, a third room, and a second stair, added in the later 17th century. The design is now irregular, with two windows in each section; the right section has sash windows with glazing bars, while some windows in the left section are similar. The house has steeply pitched roofs with three stacks located on each gable and at the cross-passage position.
The interior is reported to have a 'Tudor' doorhead and a half-spiral stair made mainly of wooden blocks in the left section. The right section features in-and-out partitioning and an open newel stair with original flat balusters of an ornate profile. These interior details were recorded by Fox and Raglan and noted in the list description from 1980.
