Description

Cwm Farmhouse is a house built from roughly coursed local rubblestone, with the center of the rear elevation painted. It has Welsh slate roofs. The layout consists of two main rooms, with an original closet wing at the left rear and a slightly larger wing with a lean-to addition at the right rear, which is believed to date from the early 18th century. The south elevation features two windows and a central door beneath a small verandah. All the joinery is from the late 20th century. A straight joint on the east wall that separates the two halves of the house is obscured by climbing plants. The left-hand windows were previously noted to have ovolo mullions, but these were removed before 1980. The house has a steeply pitched roof with two roof lights and a large two-flued stack on the left gable, likely a modification from a single flue. The right gable includes a door and an attic window, both also from the late 20th century. The left gable has a small 2 x 2 casement window on the upper floor and a plank door with a window above in the closet wing, all late 20th century. The closet wing is gabled. The rear wall has modern openings on each floor and a small 2 x 2 casement window in the return of the other wing.

The interior was not accessible during the resurvey, but features recorded by Fox and Raglan and in the previous list description from 1980 are said to still be in place. These include a massive oak spiral staircase, doorways with four-centred heads, wheelwright's stops, and an early 18th-century china wall cupboard.
