Description
Court Perrot Farmhouse is a 19th-century house that is fully rendered and painted, likely over local rubblestone, and features Welsh slate roofs. The building has two storeys and an L-shaped plan, with a wing that projects forward to the right. It is divided into two residences, consisting of the main section, the projecting wing, and an additional range attached to the rear of the main part.
The entrance is located at the inner angle of the L and includes three windows and a doorway to the left, along with an additional window in the wing to the right. All these openings are 19th-century, 2-light, 6 over 6 pane casements set in elliptical heads. The porch, probably from the late 19th century, features a plank door in a segmental head with a trefoil above, and has a steep gable adorned with bargeboards and a spike finial. The upper floor has flat window heads. The roof has a medium pitch with wavy bargeboards, and there are stone stacks located between the first and second windows and on the gable end of the projecting wing. A small stone obelisk is present on the left gable, while the right gable has a small first-floor window, likely for the stairwell. The left gable features another casement on the ground floor only. The rear of the main range is obscured by the additional range, which has two French casements on the ground floor, with the left one obscured by a modern conservatory, and two more casements above. The roof has stacks at both gables, and there are small lean-to modern extensions at both gables of this range.
Only the interior of the projecting wing was inspected during the resurvey. Modern alterations and decoration have concealed many features, but a dated inscription over the upper floor fireplace was noted:
Duro a Diggon heb IH DDunD heb Ddim FH DW 1683 HW
This inscription possibly refers to a marriage and seems to incorporate the Nicholl family motto "DUW A DIGON" (God and Plenty). The feet of the principal rafter roof are visible, along with chamfered beams that have ogee stops in the room beneath.
