House, including attached railings

Nos. 12 and 14 Merthyr Road is a house featuring revealed coursed rubble sandstone with red brick dressings, which may have originally been rendered. The building has a natural slate roof with a red brick stack and a double depth plan, with doorways positioned on the outside of the balanced pair. It stands three storeys high and has four windows across the front. The entrance features six-panel doors topped with a three-pane transom. To the side of the door is a six over six pane sash window, with narrower sashes on the first and second floors; the second floor windows have three over six panes. The pair has a hipped slate roof with a central stack that is set forward of the ridge. The property retains what are likely the original low spiked wrought iron railings and gates. The rear elevation and interior were not inspected during the resurvey.
