Description
Maesderwen Lodge, located on the Pontypool Park estate, is a small single-storey building, likely constructed of brick and rendered, with a Welsh slate roof. The design is generally plain, except for the street-facing elevation, which features a shaped Dutch gable supported by grooved and partly panelled quoin pilasters. This elevation includes a triple window with arched heads; the outer windows have one over one sashes, while the central window has marginal glazing. The window features keyed heads with a continuous drip mould that connects to an impost band, which also separates the quoin pilasters. The stone cills are bracketted, and the gable displays the Pontypool Park arms. The side elevation features a tripartite sash window with one over one sashes flanking two over two sashes. The opposite side is attached to a later building but also has a similar tripartite sash window. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey in November 1996.
