Description

Nos. 64-72 Rockhill Road form a terrace of houses stepped down the hillside. The earliest elements may incorporate parts of the 18th-century Old Truck House service wing. Originally three pairs were built, with a final single house; a further house was removed when Fountain Road was widened, previously a tramway connecting the Pontymoile Tinplate Works to Lower Mill.

The houses are rendered, possibly over brick, and mostly painted, with Welsh slate roofs, some of which have been replaced with artificial materials. They are three storeys high and each house has only one bay. The ground floor windows have keyed heads, and there are arched doorways with keystone and impost blocks. The upper floor windows are set within a tall, arched recess. Most features are modern replacements. Nos. 64 has six over six sash windows, while No. 72 retains two over two Victorian plate glass sashes. The roofs are plain with two brick stacks servicing the entire terrace.

The rear elevations are mostly rendered and unpainted, with modern replacement windows. No. 64 is painted, and Nos. 68 and 70 have modern, single-storey extensions built of red brick. The interiors were not inspected during a resurvey in December 1996.
