Description

Nos. 64-72 (even) Rockhill Road. A terrace of houses stepped down the hill in pairs of which the first may include earlier work from the service wing of the C18 Old Truck House. There are two reflected pairs, and the single at the end had a further house cut off by the widening of Fountain Road, which was previously a tramway leading down from the Pontymoile Tinplate Works to Lower Mill. Rendered and mostly painted, perhaps over brick. Welsh slate roofs, several of which are replaced by artificial substitutes. Three storeys, and each house is one bay only. The ground floors have a window with a keyed head, and an arched doorway with keystone and impost blocks. The upper floors have the windows contained within a tall arched recess. Most of the features are modern replacements, those of No 64 are six over six sashes, while No 72 does appear to have two over two Victorian plate glass sashes. Plain roofs, two brick stacks to the whole. Rear elevations are all unpainted render except for No 64 which is painted, with modern replacement windows, and Nos 68 and 70 have modern red brick single storey extensions.

This house does appear to have two over two Victorian plate glass sashes.

Interiors not inspected at the time of resurvey (December 1996).
