Description
Maesderwen and Maesderwen-bach is a two-storey villa likely built in the 19th century, featuring rendered and painted walls, probably over brick, and a Welsh slate roof with deeply overhanging eaves supported by paired moulded brackets. The main structure has a rectangular block facing southeast, with a service wing extending northwest, part of which is now known as Maesderwen-bach.
The main elevation consists of three bays and includes a verandah along the ground floor that wraps around the returns, supported by very slim paired iron columns. On the ground floor, from the left, there is a modern glazed door, a six over six paned sash with horns (likely the original front door position), and a two-light small paned casement. Above these, there are three six over six sash windows.
On the northeast elevation, the left side features the gable of the main block, again with eaves on paired brackets. The ground floor has an added porch extension with a door that has four panes over two panels facing the garden, along with two six over six sashes facing the road. To the right, there are five ground floor windows, all six over six sashes, although the two on the left are modern replacements. Above, there are three six over six sashes and a tall rendered stack. A modern panelled door leads to Maesderwen-bach on the return side.
The rear elevation was not visible during the resurvey in November 1996, and the interior was not available for inspection at that time.
