Description
2 Vicar's Cottages is part of a group of three almshouses located on Maesderwen Road, built in a symmetrical terrace style that reflects minimal Tudor Revival architecture. Constructed from golden/brown squared coursed limestone, the cottages feature an artificial slate roof and stand two storeys tall. The front facade has four windows arranged in a 1:2:1 pattern, with the outer bays set forward in gabled wings, creating the appearance of a 17th-century hall-and-crosswings house. The windows are small paned cross-framed casements, with three lights on the lower level and two on the upper, each topped with dripmoulds. A central gabled porch leads to the front door, and the plain roofs are complemented by two four-flued stacks with octagonal shafts and clay pots. The central portion of the terrace is No.2, while Nos.1 and 3 have two bay fronts with gables and their own gabled porches, facing south towards the main front. The rear elevation has not been seen, and the interiors were not inspected during the resurvey in November 1996.
