Description
Bridge 53 at Pontymoile Basin is a junction bridge located at the meeting point of the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal and the now closed Monmouthshire Canal. It features a semi-elliptical arch constructed with voussoirs and is faced with coursed stone. The bridge has a parapet with slab coping and curving abutments that include plain pilasters. On the south-east side, the towpath for the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal runs beneath the bridge arch. Additionally, a diamond-shaped 6-ton weight limit sign from the Great Western Railway period of ownership is still present.
