Description
Morgans Bridge, also known as Canal Bridge No 90, was built between 1809 and 1812 as part of the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal, which was initiated in 1792 to connect the upper Usk valley to the Monmouthshire Canal. The canal was an important route for transporting iron, lime, and coal, and it underwent several phases of construction, with various engineers involved over the years. The bridge is made of coursed rubble and spans the canal and tow-path to the east. It features a segmental arch with a keystone, and the parapet curves around at the downhill end. Morgans Bridge is noted for its historical significance as one of the few remaining early 19th-century bridges of the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal.
