Description
Nos 41-47 Garden Suburbs, Circus is a block of four 2-storey houses built in the Inter War period, likely between 1919 and 1945. Although simpler and more altered than other blocks in the circus, it still follows the Arts and Crafts butterfly-plan. Each house has a 2-window front, with pebbledashed elevations and a slate roof, although the chimney stacks have been removed. The windows are replacement top-hung casements, and there are hoodmoulds above the ground floor windows. The two central houses, Nos 43 and 45, feature small gables above their windows. There is a bracketed hood over the doorways, and decorative brick diamond details along with a tile string course adorn each elevation. This block reflects the style of the houses diagonally opposite it.
