Description

Nos 41-47 (odd - consec) Garden Suburbs, Circus. Although simpler and much more altered than the other four blocks at the circus (Nos 22 to 28, 30 to 36 and 49 to 55) this block is still essentially derived from the Arts and Crafts butterfly-plan. It comprises four 2-storey houses, each with a 2-window front. At this central part of the Garden Suburb each block reflects that which is diagonally opposite. Pebbledashed elevations with slate roof: chimney stacks removed. Replacement top-hung casement windows throughout; hoodmoulds to ground floor. The two windows to centre (Nos 43 and 45) have small gables over. Bracketed hood over doorways. Decorative brick diamond detail and tile string course to each elevation. This block was probably built sometime in the Inter War period (ie. 1919-1945).
