Description
Nos 41-47 Garden Suburbs, Circus is a block of four two-storey houses built in the Inter War period, likely between 1919 and 1945. Although it is simpler and more altered than nearby blocks, it still follows the Arts and Crafts butterfly-plan. Each house features a two-window front and pebbledashed elevations with a slate roof, although the chimney stacks have been removed. The windows are replacement top-hung casements, and there are hoodmoulds above the ground floor windows. The two central houses, Nos 43 and 45, have small gables over their windows. Each doorway is topped with a bracketed hood, and decorative brick diamond details along with a tile string course can be found on each elevation. This block reflects the design of the houses diagonally opposite it.
