Description
Nos 41-47 Garden Suburbs, Circus, consist of four 2-storey houses, each with a 2-window front. This block, while simpler and more altered than the nearby blocks at the circus, is still based on the Arts and Crafts butterfly-plan. Located at the central part of the Garden Suburb, it reflects the design of the block diagonally opposite. The elevations are pebbledashed with a slate roof, and the chimney stacks have been removed. All windows are replacement top-hung casements, with hoodmoulds on the ground floor. The two central houses, Nos 43 and 45, feature small gables above their windows. There are bracketed hoods over the doorways, and decorative brick diamond details along with a tile string course on each elevation. This block was likely built during the Inter War period, between 1919 and 1945.
