Description
18 Garden Suburbs is a two-storey terrace of six cottages, numbered 10 to 20, each with a single window range. The upper floor is pebbledashed, while the lower floor is stone-fronted, except for the second cottages at each end, Nos 12 and 18, which feature fully stone-fronted projecting bays in a rustic rubble style, complete with quoins and voussoirs. The cottages have a half-hipped roof with overhanging swept eaves and red brick chimney stacks, originally topped with a Welsh slate roof.
The windows are leaded casements with brick sills, some featuring cambered heads, although some have been replaced with modern versions. Nos 10 and 20 at the ends have small gables with 2-light windows, while the ground floor beside the corner entrances has 4-light windows. The projecting bays of Nos 12 and 18 include 4-light windows on both floors, and there are half-glazed doors under bracketed hoods on the inner sides. These bracketed hoods are matched with the doorways of the central cottages, Nos 14 and 16, which have taller gables and 4-light windows over splayed bays. The end elevations also exhibit similar detailing.
The cottages have a concrete tiled roof and have had their hoods and front doors replaced.
