Description
This is a two-story terrace of six cottages, built in the early 20th century as part of the Garden Suburb development. The cottages form a continuous block, each having a single window. The upper floors are pebbledashed, while the lower floors are faced with stone, except for the cottages at numbers 12 and 18. These have projecting bays that are entirely constructed of roughly-faced stone rubble, incorporating quoins and voussoirs. The roof is half-hipped, with overhanging eaves and red brick chimney stacks. Originally covered with Welsh slate, the roof has been replaced with artificial slates. The windows are casement style, with leaded glazing and brick sills; some have been replaced with modern windows of a similar design. The end cottages, numbers 10 and 20, have small gables with two-light windows; the ground floor features four-light windows beside the entrances. The projecting bays at numbers 12 and 18 have four-light windows on both floors, each with a half-glazed door sheltered beneath a bracketed hood. The doorways to the central cottages, numbers 14 and 16, share a similar bracketed hood design but have taller gables and four-light windows above splayed bays, mirroring the detail of the end elevations. The front door has been replaced with a like-for-like design.
