Description

This is a two-storey terrace of six cottages, built in the 1920s as part of the Garden Suburb development. The cottages are arranged in a row, with a one-window frontage. The upper floors are finished with pebbledash, while the lower floors are stone-fronted. Numbers 12 and 18 have projecting bays that are fully stone-fronted using a rustic rubble style, featuring quoins and voussoirs. The roofs are half-hipped, with overhanging eaves and red brick chimney stacks. Originally covered with Welsh slate, the roofs are now grouted. The windows are casement style, with leaded glazing and brick sills; some of the windows have been replaced more recently and some have cambered heads. The cottages at the ends, numbers 10 and 20, have small gables with two-light windows. To the ground floor beside the corner entrances are four-light windows. The projecting bays at numbers 12 and 18 have four-light windows on both floors, with a half-glazed door sheltered by a bracketed hood on the inner side. These hoods are mirrored by porches above the doorways of the central cottages, numbers 14 and 16, which also have taller gables and four-light windows above splayed bays. The end elevations have a similar design. The original bracketed hood has been replaced.
