Description

The barn at Gwern Leyshon Farm is a 19th-century structure built from random rubble with larger quoins and a stone-tile roof. It features a lower porch with a hipped roof located to the right of the center, which is faced with hammer-dressed stone and includes a shallow brick arch topped with a sandstone key that displays the date 1836 in a diamond panel. On either side of the porch, there are two pairs of ventilation slits, with added lean-tos behind them. To the left of the porch, there is a stable door and a window, along with a blocked former granary opening beneath the wall plate. The left gable end has external steps that lead to a granary door, which is currently overgrown. The right gable end has later additions attached. The rear of the barn was not accessible during the inspection in July 1998.

Inside, the barn has a five-bay roof supported by machine-sawn trusses, which include tie- and collar-beams. The cart passage retains its original flagged floor. In the dividing wall between the barn and stable, the gable end of an earlier, lower building is visible.
