Description
The barn at Glanrhyd is a structure made of rubble stone with larger quoins and an asbestos-slate roof that rests on a moulded stone cornice. The central bay is slightly projected and features a pediment made of coursed freestone. This bay includes two wide elliptical-headed doorways, each with an impost band and keystones; the left doorway has been fitted with replaced doors, while the right doorway has been infilled and shuttered. Above these doorways is a freestone tablet that reads, "These barns were built by Evan Griffith Esq 1778." The pediment above the simple moulded cornice has a blind oculus, which once housed a clock. On either side of the central bay, there are two ventilation strips. The left gable end, which faces downhill, has an additional range made of blockwork, above which are stone ledges and pigeon holes.
At the rear of the barn, there is a wide outshut porch featuring two segmental arches. Inside the porch, there are two elliptical keyed doorways with double boarded doors. To the right, there is a single ventilation strip, and to the left, there is an added blockwork lean-to.
The barn has an eleven-bay collar-beam roof.
