Description
The building known as the Offices and Outbuilding to the west of Glanrhyd House, also referred to as The Court House, is a 2-storey structure made of rubble stone with larger quoins. It features an asbestos-slate roof and a freestone stack at the northeast end. The openings are adorned with freestone voussoirs and keystones.
On the northwest elevation, the 'office' occupies the left side, which has three windows beneath flat brick arches, featuring wooden glazing bars but partially boarded up. To the right of center, there is a doorway with an elliptical head and double boarded doors. Above this doorway is a segmental-headed loft doorway with boarded doors, next to which is a stone tablet inscribed with 'These offices were built by Evan Griffiths Esq 1779'. Further to the right, the elevation projects forward, housing a coach house or cart shed on the lower storey. This section has three elliptical arched doorways with an impost band; two of these doorways have wide boarded doors, while one is open. A central loft doorway mirrors the one to the left.
The southwest gable end features a roofed external stone stairway beneath a lower roof line, with stone on the gable end and brick above the wooden lintel on the northwest side. The northeast gable end has stone steps leading to a fielded-panel door under a flat arch, which is offset to the left. The gable also contains pigeon holes.
On the rear (southeast) elevation, the 'office' on the right side has a 4-pane window at the lower center. To the right of this window, there is a boarded-up upper storey window and a boarded-up window beneath the eaves. On the left side, there is a boarded loft doorway under a segmental head, with another similar loft doorway further left, positioned above three ventilation strips in the lower storey.
Inside, the office retains remnants of a painted ceiling and round arched panelling on the southwest wall.
