Description

The barn at Rhydygwern Farm is a Grade II listed rubble-stone structure with an attached stable on the left, creating a continuous range of limewashed rubble stone. The roof features stone tiles on the right side of the porch, concrete pantiles on the left, and corrugated steel at the rear. The right gable end connects to the house through a short link. The front porch is lower than the main structure and has boarded double doors beneath a boarded gable that includes pigeon holes. To the left of the porch, there is a single blocked ventilation strip under a wooden lintel, followed by a fixed small-pane window under a timber lintel and a doorway set in a shallow projection with a brick surround.

On the right gable end of the barn, there are three stepped ventilation strips. The rear features a porch with a brick gable and boarded double doors, along with an added lean-to on the right side. Further to the right, there is an inserted boarded door. The gable end of the stable includes an inserted loft window and a ventilation strip below it, framed in brick.

Inside, the barn has a seven-bay roof constructed with machine-sawn, pegged tie- and collar-beams. The cart passage has a flagged floor, while the stable contains a floor that is partly made of stone setts with an integral gully, wooden stalls, and trusses similar to those in the barn.
