Description

The footbridge over the lake at Machen House is a Grade II listed structure. It is made of rock-faced rubble stone with squared stone dressings and features three arches that are slightly humped, providing a narrow footway. The arches are segmental-curved and shallow, constructed with cut stone voussoirs and separated by small triangular-section shafts on corbels that extend up to the low parapets. The parapets are splayed out at the ends, with copings made of tooled stone that terminate at piers topped with small pyramidal caps. Pyramidal caps are also present on the parapets above the dividing shafts.
