Description
The gates and gate piers, along with the flanking railings, are located at the southeast entrance to Aberdare Park and are designated as a Grade II listed structure. The entrance features two tall stone square piers topped with pyramidal caps, which are flanked by smaller, similar piers. The iron gates for both carriage and pedestrians have simple panel designs and lock bars, with the main carriage gates adorned with scrolled ironwork at the top. Low rubble walls curve back on either side, terminating in similar square piers; to the left, the wall rounds the corner by the lodge, while to the right, it leads to a bus shelter that steps up beyond the corner with Hirwaun Road. The entrance is further enhanced by finialled iron railings, which feature more elaborate principal uprights with scrolled brackets on the inner side.
