Description
37 and 37a Alma Street is a three-storey building with a three-window front, finished in painted cement render. It features a slate roof with wide boarded eaves and cement render end chimney stacks. The second floor has six-pane sash windows, with the central panes being broader. The first floor has only two smaller windows, one with 12 panes and the other with the glazing bars removed. There is a horned six-pane sash window on the ground floor to the left. The shopfront, dating from the mid to late 19th century, includes fascia end brackets with faceted panels and fluted colonnettes, although the glazing has been removed on the right side. The entrance has a half-glazed door. To the left, there is a two-storey lean-to (No 37A) that is stepped back, featuring one horned sash window above a modern door. Additional sash windows are present on the sides and rear of the building.
