Description

The gates and gate piers at the northwest entrance to Aberdare Park date from the 19th century. They feature two tall stone square piers topped with pyramidical caps. The iron gates for both carriages and pedestrians have simple panels and lock bars, with the main carriage gates adorned with scrolled ironwork at the top. On either side, low rubble walls curve back to end at similar square piers. The finialled iron railings have more elaborate principal uprights that include scrolled brackets on the inner side.
