Description
The fountain in Aberdare Park is a tall and colorful structure featuring classical details and a broad circular basin. At the top, it has a statue of Liberty positioned over a scalloped smaller basin with a beaded underside. Below this, a cylindrical column emerges, adorned with daffodils and swans resting on a bed of water lilies. The larger basin has a petalled edge and is supported above a drum base, which is decorated with detached columns featuring foliage capitals and other leafy details. The fountain includes encrusted plasterwork with classical figures. There are axial projections extending from each column, each featuring large dolphins with putti on their backs, and lion heads positioned at the angles between these arms. The outer rim of the main basin is roll-moulded at the top and ramps outwards, decorated with sunflower roses, linking bosses, and strapwork.
