Description
Gadlys Chapel is a classical building featuring a three-bay front with a pediment, finished in cement render with a plinth. It has a slate roof adorned with tiled cresting and a datestone at the top. The façade includes an entablature and cornice supported by Ionic pilasters. There are round-arched gallery windows with sills, which are broader and segmental-arched above the main entrance. The entrance is framed by a pilastered doorcase with a deep entablature and double doors, flanked by square-headed windows. The entablature and cornice continue along the three-window right side, which has one Ionic pilaster at the corner and similar windows, with arched heads over square heads. At the time of inspection in December 1989, the windows on the front and right side were boarded up but were reported to retain their glazing underneath. The left side features small pane sash windows, round-arched with simple Gothic tracery above square-headed windows with marginal bars. A deep coved band runs below the eaves, and there are doors leading to the basement. A rubble wall with gate piers forms the forecourt. The chapel was disused at the time of inspection, and the interior was not seen.
