Description
This listing describes a group of four attached houses, known as Rhiwbina Type 2, located at Nos. 52-58 Pen-y-dre. The houses date from the 19th century and are two storeys high, featuring roughcast render with a band at the first-floor sill level. They have hipped slate roofs and brick stacks. The design is symmetrical, with an eight-window front that mainly consists of original 16-pane sash windows.
At the centre, there is an advanced two-window bay topped with a hipped roof and a central round-arched passageway. On either side, there are two-window bays with doorways positioned close to the inner angles of the central block, each featuring original half-glazed doors beneath flat hoods. The ends of the houses have advanced bays with hipped roofs and a single window on each floor. The ends also include a round-arched doorway and two windows on the upper floor.
It is noted that all windows of No. 54 have been replaced, and the ground floor front windows of No. 56 have also been replaced.
