Description

Nos. 57-63 Pen-y-dre comprise a group of four attached houses, built in the Rhiwbina Type 2 style. The houses date from the 18th century and are constructed with roughcast render, featuring a band at the level of the first-floor window sills. They have hipped slate roofs and brick stacks. The houses present a symmetrical facade with an eight-window front, all featuring original sixteen-pane sash windows. A two-window bay is centrally advanced, also with a hipped roof, and incorporates a central, round-arched passageway. To either side of this central bay are two-window bays, with original half-glazed doors positioned near the inner angles of the centre block; these doors are covered by flat hoods. The ends of the building project forward with hipped roofs, each containing a single window on each floor. The ends also feature a round-arched doorway and two windows on the upper floor.
