Description
The dovecote at Durval Farm is an octagonal structure that is currently roofless but remains standing at full height. It is built from rubble masonry that is rough-cast, resting on a masonry plinth. At the top, there is a stone ledge, above which are entry holes for the birds made of red brick. The entrance is located on the southeast side and features red brick dressing, including a flat arch with gauged brickwork and a stone threshold. There is a small window opening to the northeast that matches the style of the doorway and contains plain glazing, with a small recess to its right.
The lower half of the dovecote is rendered and includes two recesses on the north and south sides, which likely supported a beam. Inside, there are six tiers of nest boxes made from brickwork that lines the external masonry facing, with each tier resting on stone slab ledges.
