Description
The boundary wall of the former Hafod Copperworks canal docks is a high structure measuring approximately 80 meters in length, built from copper slag, sandstone, and brick. The adjacent canal has been filled in. The lower sections of the wall are predominantly made of copper slag, which is either arranged in carefully bedded rough nodules or formed into moulded blocks. On top of this base, there is a row of square slag copings. The wall has been raised with additional stone and slag, featuring crenellations made of oblong slag blocks interspersed with sideways laid spade-shaped slag copings. In the late 19th century, the wall was further raised with brick and stone. Two wide blocked archways can be seen, which once supported the wall where the canal dock entrances passed through.
