Description
The Laboratory Building at the entrance to the former Yorkshire Imperial Metal Works is a tall two-storey structure that runs along the boundary wall, featuring lower one-storey and basement stepped ranges attached to its inner side. The building is constructed with snecked rubble and has freestone dressings, along with rusticated quoins. It has a hipped slate roof, which is mostly stripped. The design includes a moulded cornice and frieze band, with segmental arched heads to the lugged window architraves. There is a cill band with moulded brackets, although the openings are blocked. The southern side of the building is made of random rubble with some brick patching. A fine stone doorcase is located on the return facing the entrance, featuring a ball finial on the pediment that contains a cartouche, along with swagged capitals on the panelled pilasters and an arched keyblock doorcase.
