Description

This building is an outbuilding located on the north side of the farmyard at Llandyfan. It was formerly a cow-house and may have originally served as stables. The structure is made of rubble stone, with remnants of color wash on the front. It has a steep roof covered with slate on the front elevation and corrugated steel on the rear pitch.

The front wall shows significant alterations, featuring a door to the left with a timber lintel. There is a long timber lintel across most of the front, which has altered openings and blank walling below. To the right, there is another door with a lintel that abuts the main lintel. Below the main lintel, there is a narrow window, a stable door, and a broad window that was once a door. There may have been another opening to the right, which is now a blank wall. The arrangement suggests that the door to the right would have created a nearly symmetrical facade, with doors at each end and two in the middle flanked by narrow lights. There is also a 20th-century opening in the east end wall.

The building has a two-room plan, with a dividing wall to the right of the center door. In the left section, there are two heavy beams from the former loft floor, and a blocked loft window in the west end wall. The roof is a four-bay double-purlin structure made of oak collar-trusses, likely dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, similar to those found in the barn.
