Description
This building is a lofted stable located on the west side of the farmyard at Aberduhonw, dating from an earlier period with a later weatherboarded addition, all under a single slate roof. The stone section on the right features a central square loft opening with a plank door, and to the left, there is a ground floor window and door beneath a single timber lintel. There are additional windows and doors to the centre and right, all under a long timber lintel. Some straight joints on the ground floor to the right and next to the left door suggest that this part may include an earlier structure.
The left section is weatherboarded and has a boarded square loft opening above two broad ground floor openings and one door. The rear wall contains some rubble stone between oak posts. Adjacent to the stone range is a single-storey, four-bay range of open-fronted cart sheds.
Inside, the main stable has a cobbled floor and heavy floor beams, while the roof features tie-beam trusses with angle struts. The smaller stable is also cobbled and has a loft. The timber-framed section consists of three bays with a double purlin roof. Vertical posts in the loft support the principal rafters, with short horizontal pieces tenoned in back to the wallplate level.
