Description
The outbuildings on the southeast side of the farmyard at Llandyfan date from an unspecified period and include what appears to have been a cow-house, cartshed, and stable. These structures have been disused since 1998 and are currently in poor condition. They are constructed from rubble stone with a slate roof, which is partly missing as of 1998. The front wall features squared stone made from a mix of grey limestone and purple Sawdde stone, with tooled grey limestone dressings, quoins, and voussoirs.
The range is situated on a slope and is lofted at the lower end, with the upper end partially overlapping the barn. From left to right, there are two doors at a similar height, followed by one door that is slightly lower, and another next to a cambered-headed cart-entry, both of which are lower again. There is also a window and a door with a loft window above it, located under the eaves. External steps lead to the loft door on the end wall. All openings feature stone voussoirs, except for the loft window. The rear wall has two long vent loops centered, with one additional vent to the right.
The end bay is separated by a stone wall up to wall-plate height and has a vent in the rear wall. The next two doors lead into the cow-shed, with the second door set lower. There is a vent in the rear wall, and a full-height internal end wall. Beyond this is the cartshed, which consists of a single bay with whitewashed side walls and two vents in the rear, along with a loft above. The lowest part of the structure likely served as stabling for two loose boxes, and the floor retains striated paving bricks. The roofs are supported by pine collar trusses, and the loft at the upper end extends over the cartshed.
