Description

The gateway at the entrance to Gliffaes features square piers made of red sandstone ashlar, topped with swept pyramidal caps and orb finials. The double cast iron gates are designed with scrolled lower, upper, and lock rails, along with an elaborately scrolled overthrow. On either side of the piers, there are dwarf stone walls with flat brick coping that rise to meet the piers and are crowned by brick scrolls.
