Description

This is an ornamental dipping pool and associated steps, likely dating to the Victorian era and situated within the grounds of Gliffaes. The pool complex is constructed of coursed rubble sandstone with tooled dressings. The primary feature is a semi-circular pool on the south side, facing the house, constructed with dressed stone. It incorporates a V-shaped spout positioned within a round-headed recess. This recess is detailed with hammer-dressed voussoirs and a projecting keystone, all set beneath a shaped gable with projecting coping stones. To the left and right of this pool are stone steps leading to a lower level. A simpler, rectangular pool, also at a lower level, is situated on the north side and is fed by a stone spout.
